On November 3rd, 2011, Old Fort Pub and the Lowrey Group hosted a memorable period dinner steeped in the history of the battle of Port Royal, which occurred on November 7th, 1861.

The Union Army launched the largest amphibious landing prior to WWI, capturing Hilton Head Island, which established the headquarters for the Department of the South. On November 3rd, in honor of the sesquicentennial anniversary of the Civil War, the Old Fort Pub and the Lowrey Group hosted a period dinner that featured the typical foods and beverages of that time period.

Well known historian and author, Doug Bostick of Charleston SC, served as a guest speaker for this outstanding event at Old Fort Pub.
